Municipal waste is considered to be solid waste generated in apartments, common areas of residential buildings, business premises, garages and yards, which can be disposed of in household waste bins.

Household waste does not include: soil, waste and residues of construction materials, slag, as well as other large waste generated in the process of industrial, craft, construction, agricultural or other production.

Waste collection in the city area of ​​the city of Zenica is organized in two shifts on all days of the week, and in the suburbs waste is collected in the first shift, on working days. In the city area, the population has at its disposal 488 containers with a volume of 1.1 cubic meters at 183 locations, 42 metal bells with a volume of 2.5 cubic meters at 14 locations and 43 underground containers with a volume of 3 cubic meters at 17 locations. In suburban areas, 120 and 240 l bins are available for waste disposal.

Municipal waste collection is performed with 8 vehicles with hydraulic waste compaction and with 2 grabs. This fleet disposes of household waste from about 27,000 households in the city of Zenica.

In addition to the municipal waste collection service, "ALBA Zenica" Ltd Zenica organizes twice a year actions for the removal of bulky waste, in spring and autumn, and in addition bulky waste can be disposed of at the invitation of users.

Bulky waste is an object / thing that due to the volume and / or mass is inappropriate to dispose of as part of the system of organized collection of mixed municipal waste (exceeds the size of the opening of the waste container), such as: household appliances, furniture, sanitary appliances, vehicle wrecks and the like, and parts thereof.

The collected municipal waste is taken to the Regional Landfill "Mošćanica".
